In a former life, Suzanne R. Thurman was a history professor. In her present incarnation she is a writer and mother of two small boys, though usually not in that order. Nevertheless, she has managed to published a book on the Shakers (Syracuse University Press) which won a 2002 Choice Outstanding Academic Book Award. Her poetry, fiction, and personal essays have appeared most recently in Poem, RE:AL, The Mochila Review, Toasted Cheese Literary Journal, The Square Table, and Studio and are forthcoming in numerous publications including Aries, The Formalist, The Chaffin Journal, King Log, and War, Literature, and the Arts.
